If Spurs close it out in Game 4 or Game 5 in Cleveland, should Bruce Bowen be NBA Finals MVP?

If, and that is a big if, the Spurs close out the NBA Finals this week in either game 4 or game 5 of the 2007 NBA Finals, should 36 year old Bruce Bowen be named NBA Finals MVP particularly after his Game 3 performance with 13 points (what 4 three pointers) and a game high 9 rebounds for the Spurs while defending 22 year old LeBron the entire NBA Finals and where Bowen defended LeBron for like for over 43 minutes in Game Three?

If Spurs close it out in Game 4 or Game 5 in Cleveland, should Bruce Bowen be NBA Finals MVP?tickets

Bruce Bowen is a great role player. He is mainly a defensive player, although he was the leading scorer at one point in the game Sunday. He is a great player and necessary for the spurs to win, but not at all the mvp. Manu can't be the MVP because he doesn't start. He is really good but I don't think you can give it to him coming off the bench. Tony Parker should probably get it, but he wouldn't be doing as well if a great deal of the focus wasn't on Tim Duncan. The impossible shots Tony Parker makes, I think he should get it because Duncan hasn't been able to produce MVP quality performances. Duncan is the best player on the team and should have been in the talk for league MVP but Parker is the finals MVP.

If Spurs close it out in Game 4 or Game 5 in Cleveland, should Bruce Bowen be NBA Finals MVP?nba ,nba teams

No, it should be Tony Parker.

He made a million 3-pointers, a bunch of wild layups through 3 defenders, and a bunch of other amazing plays.

This'll be sort of like a wedding gift to him from his team
Parker deserves the MVP for this series so far. He's the one driving their success.

Bowen? That hack shouldn't even be out on the floor. Check out what he's doing when LeBron is trying to make a cut and gets away from him. Bowen is grabbing the jersey and shorts, hand-checking off the ball, and in general being the cheap-shot that he is. When is the NBA going to realize what a dirty player he is and get rid of his tactics? He fouled LeBron in the act of shooting the final 3-pointer last night - the last time I checked, grabbing a player's jersey while that player was shooting is a foul - but the refs once again look the other way when Bowen's doing his dirty work.
I have thought that Bowen needed to be MVP after I have watched the last three games. LeBron's knees are very weak. He's been carrying the whole team. Ha! Ha!
no hes mdp (most dirtiest player)
hell no. it'll be between Duncan, Parker or Manu
spurs suck
He is doing a great job on LeBron but I think it should be Parker.

If it isn't Parker then it should be Duncan.
That is an impressive line by Bruce Bowen but,

Tony Parker has taken his play to another level in the finals he is averaging a team hi 24.7 pts per game in the final that coincides with 50% shooting from the field that includes 53% shooting from the 3 pt line. But he is also making the big plays when they need him. Its got to be Parker
I do no think you can give Bowen MVP. I think that Tony Parker has been the best player in the series. I think that Bowen is doing a good job, but stopping LeBron is not all him. He has probly the best help defense in the league and it seems as though LeBron has been nervouse in the Finals. Bowen has played well but I think the Spurs could still be up 3-0 without him. However, I think that if you take away Parker this would be a much closer series. That is why Parker is the most valuable player of Bowen.
hell no, im in complete agreement with mark w
Parker

Duncan

Bowen

Ginobili

In that order, it is very hard for a defensive player to get MVP considering Duncan may not score the most in a game but he does so much more to win. I personally like Ginobili the most as my favorite player but Duncan is so solid and consistent through the playoffs that he might get MVP again if Parker doesn't get it for his incredible point scoring and clutch points through out game 2 and 3.

Either way I will be happy with any 4 of them

GO SPURS!!! 99' 03' 05' 07'
no.manu will be MVP(i hope)
I think Tony Parker deserves the Finals MVP award.
duncan is the mvp. just because he wasnt the #1 scorer during the series doesnt mean he doesnt deserve it. look at the other 3 times its no differeny
I don't think so. I agree that Bowen played well while he marked LeBron. But his role in these games wasn't as big as Parker's or Duncan's. Especially Parker... I choose him to be the NBA Finals MVP. He is the engine of Spurs. Bravo Parker!!! ^_^
If bowen gets the mvp, then the MOB will have one person

on each NBA team named the enforcer to wack people.

Can you say Sopranos?
Tony Parker will likely win it.
I think Bruce Bowen is doing a phenomenal job on Lebron, but no way!

Tony Parker should be MVP. He put on a show in games 1 and 2. He also made a huge and timely 3 pointer last night, that puts him in the MVP category.

Who will be next year NBA mvp?

i will guess you people choose the best player as possible for the answer and choose wisely.

Who will be next year NBA mvp?basketball shoes

Kobe or Lebron

Who will be next year NBA mvp?nba champions ,nba teams

It's gonna be Kobe if he doesn't get jipped by Nash again...
Kirk Hinrich will be next year's Steve Nash.
Tracy McGrady or LeBron James
I wanna see Kobe improve a lot more and be a better team player...
LeBron James, he should have won it this year. And he's only going to get better. If he has better numbers than this year and doesn't win it again, then I'm going on a NBA strike.
it will be between LeBron James and Steve Nash
Next year I think it will be narrowed to 4 players

Allen Iverson if he can lead his team to the playoffs

Kobe Bryant if he is his usual self and keeps up with his record scoring

LeBron James if he can be a top 2 team in the Eastern Conference

Amare Stoudmire if he makes a clean comeback

I'd watch Amare he is a great player and this season which he didn't play he learned how to hit 3's. It's like Dirk but better.
Dwayne Wade...end of story...he'll really step up
steve nash or lebron james
Toss-up between LeBron James and Dirk Nowitzki
i say LeBron James if he does just as good as this year,

Who Is Going To Win This Years NBA MVP Race?

Kobe Bryant. No question about it and I am a Sun's fan. Kobe is unquestionably the best player in the NBA it is surprising he still hasn't won the award, He takes over games and makes his teammates better

More and more emphasis is being put on the success of the winning teams. It used to be who was most able to give their team more success than if they did not have you.
thats a really unique question lol.......i think your gonna gets some surprising asnwers like KOBE! lol
your mother.
Kobe One Kinobe!

Kobe Bryant!
kobe bryant im saying this as a kings fan!!! honorable mentions would be cp3 and lebron james...
My Guess, Kobe ...

My Hope, Chris Paul

This season it's unfair to call Kobe a ballhog. He's made his team better and a possible contender. It might be the voters only opportunity to elect him legitimately ...

Chris Paul made the Hornets a great team with a more than decent record allmost completely by himself. He's young, and will probably be nominated for many years to come. So it would be reasonable to elect Bryant this season.
I hate to admit it but I believe Kobe deserves it more than me.
Did you see the games this weekend? Kobe put the exclamation point on the season. Spike's 17 cameras were on who?

MVP just went from split decision to unanimous.
even after CP3 played amazing, his team lost 2 straight, while the lakers won.

so Kobe is the MVP.
KB24 FOR SURE MAN!!!
it's still going to be cp3.
Kobe Bryant.
KOBE.

If NO beat LA a few days ago maybe it'd be a different story, but after Kobe helped L.A. dismantle the defending champs, it would no doubt be Kobe.

Runner-ups:

1. Chris Paul

2. Kevin Garnett

3. LeBron James
I don't like any of the people that are realistic canidates to win.

i hate kobe, i don't like lebron, chris paul i don't know very much honestly...

kobe will prob ***** win, i hate that ********** but oh well.

I want a Detroit Piston player to win it, there is a respectable team.
Chris Paul!!

What two nba hall of famers have won the nba mvp and rookie of the year in the same season ?

they are the only players in nba history to accomplish that feat !

What two nba hall of famers have won the nba mvp and rookie of the year in the same season ?nba trade

Wilt Chamberlain and Wes Unseld. Wilt for his part averaged an incredible 37.6 points and 27 rebounds in his rookie year obliterating the previous regular-season records. He won both the NBA Most Valuable Player and NBA Rookie of the Year awards the first to do so. Unseld was drafted 2nd overall in the first round by the Baltimore Bullets in 1968, and helped lead the Bullets (who had finished in last place in the Eastern division the previous year) to a 57-25 record and a division title. Unseld averaged 18.2 rebounds per game that year, and became only the second player ever to win both Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player in the same season.

cp3 has a great chance at winning it all though i think lebron is the best player out of Kobe, and Chris paul .... but lebron didint lead his team to that many wins like Cp3 did so he has a great shot i think he'll win it

Kobe locked it up when the Lakers won that final regular season meeting against the Hornets and got the top seed.

The fact that Kobe has never won it helps his cause too.

Its like a great actor whos been nominated but never won finally getting rewarded even if it wasn't necessarily his best performance.

Should be. If he isn't, the voters are retarded.
i do he has been amazing so far they will sweep dallas cause of cp3
Not me.

This is Kobe's year.

What CP3 accomplished this year was great. I expect him to win the MVP later.
He's the most deserving player, but it will be given to Kobe Bryant due to name recognition and his past accolades.
sure yea whatever
Chris Paul for MVP.

Was the NBA MVP a correct decision?

Steve Nash's stats were up in every category from his last two MVP seasons, and Dirk's point average was down from last season. Did Steve get robbed?

Was the NBA MVP a correct decision?nba championships

I believe that the NBA made a mistake on picking the season's MVP. Even though Dirk was playing well during the season, he was horrible during the playoffs. If you ask me I think that the Mavs could have done better without him. I feel that Nash playled as well or maybe even better then Dirk during the season, and he also had the same kind of game during the playoffs. I honestly think that Nash should have been the 06-07 MVP, and he should have made history by doing it three times in a row. In the future I think that the MVP award should be handed out to the player who did not just play well during the regular season, but to a player who played great in the playoffs also, and who did not choke like Dirk.

Was the NBA MVP a correct decision?nba game ,nba teams

I don't like either Nash or Dirk. In a matter of fact I hate them, but I respect their play. Their great players and I take nothing away from them. The bottom line is that Kobe should of won the past 2 years now. His stats were better than Nash and Dirk. Nash just had the assists edge on Kobe and that's it. Kobe led the league in points, Led his team in assists, All-Star MVP, passed Jordan 4th all-time in most 50 point games, carried his team all season injury free to the playoffs. Then he basically burned out. I can see if he didn't make the playoffs it would be a different story. What can this man do to win MVP? He's done more than some past MVP winners. I just don't understand why the nba commisoners would screw him like that.
no because kobe was better than steve nash the past three or two years. he deserved, there's always next year, give him point for winning
I think so.
since the MVP voting was done right before the playoffs began and it is based on the body of work during the regular season, i think it is fair. though you can't discount what steve nash has done, dirk was instrumental for dallas ending up with the leagues best record. it just sucks for him that he was not able to get the mavs pass the warriors.
wellnot really dirk dominated but i think dat steve nash is still one of da best players
how they came up with that one just puzzles the bell out of me. wierd! the most valuable play of the year is not yet known in my book. it tend to think it will be tim duncan but it could be williams on the jazz or the cav's big meathead, lebron (yuk) james. up to now i would have to choose tim duncan as the most valuable player to his team. not some guy who never made it to the championship! it certainly wasn't kobe because he didn't make it to the playoffs and he raped a white motel clerk in colorado. he and the coach should leave town. the whole minnisota lakers should leave town. derek fisher could be mvp? mvp obviously doesn't mean a damn thing and they shouldn't bother to designate anybody.

Is anybody with me?Who should have got NBA MVP ?Bryant or Paul?

Chris Paul had a carreer year and will probubly never haver a year this good ever again, but now I think that NBA expects the Lakers to win it all so thats why they did wat tha did

Is anybody with me?Who should have got NBA MVP ?Bryant or Paul?nba

YES CP3 definently deserved it, the Lakers will NOT win it all

Is anybody with me?Who should have got NBA MVP ?Bryant or Paul?nhl ,nba teams

Thats more ignorant of a question, than saying that Chris Paul is the clear cut MVP. For starters, Bryant once again played every game this season, even after tearing a ligament in his pinky on his shooting hand. Bynum only played 35 games this season, and Gasol 27. (Their is 82 games in a season incase you didn't know). Kobe led the league in scoring, he also averaged around 6 assists per game, contrary to his ball hog image, he was also 5th in the league in steals. Not taking anything away from Chris Paul, but Kobe has had more of an impact this year, while playing through an injury on his shooting hand. Chris Paul, did led the league in assists and steals, while at the same time scoring 21 points a game, but the Hornets never really had any key injuries this year. One thing is for sure Hornets v Lakers will be extremely entertaining
Kobe Bryant of course.

Best player in the league: Kobe

Best record in their conference: Kobe

Better defender: Kobe

Individually Paul doesn't even stand a chance vs Kobe's skills

Team-wise, Paul's team isn't better either, so how can you justify giving it to him?

Hornets were the 4th seed for about half a season before David West, Paul and Peja all got injured, so it's not a surprise they are 2nd seed, well maybe a little.

BUT, Lakers were leading the West even before the Gasol trade. And why are people blaming Kobe for having better teammates? Jordon didn't get out of the 1st round in his first 4 years, and then Scottie and Phil came, and the rest is histroy.
CP3 IS NOT THE MVP, IT'S KOBE

06-07 Hornets record: 39-43

Combined games missed by West, Chandler, Peja: 108

07-08 Hornets record: 53-22

Combined games missed by West, Chandler, Peja: 14

That's why. Paul needs the team around him. Without them, they fall apart.

On top of that, at least half of CP3's assists come off of alley oop or david west JUMP SHOTS some do come off open layups where he has to drive and kick or something, but most don't

Kobe has missed not one game all season. He is playing with a dislocated right pinky and a bad ankle. Through that he beat the Mavs at home w/out PAU or BYNUM. He ENDED THE JAZZ' 19 GAME HOME WIN STREAK WHERE THEY HAD ONLY LOST 3 ALL SEASON. ALL with a DISLOCATED RIGHT PINKY AND NO PAU NO BYNUM. All in all Pau Gasol only played 25 games with the Lakers.

Bynum only played 35 games this season because of injury. NEVER TOGETHER

First of all stats don't mean everything.

Second David West is playing like a milder version of Charles Barkley this season and w/out him they would be in big trouble.

Thrid The Hornets only beat the Lakers when We don't have Pau or Bynum Starting or at all. When they do have one of them starting or at all, 30 pt. BLOWOUT B*TCH.

Fourth, If you wanna talk stats, Kobe averages more points and more rebs.

Fifth, I know the MVP is suppose to be a regualr season award but cmon did Dirk really deserve the MVP after what happened last year? The Lakers are going to Get to the Finals and you can BANK on that, the Hornets can't hang with the 30 PT BLOWOUT Lakers in a 30 PT BLOWOUT best of 7. 30 PT BLOWOUT.

Last year David Westmissed 30 games and Peja only played in 13 games the whole season. And the hornets were 39-43. Do you really think that CP3 success is all his own? while Kobe has beaten the Mavs and Jazz all by HIMSELF and INJURED.

KOBE IS THE MVP
paul didnt do anything better than bryant did this season except average more assists...

kobes team had a better record, higher seed, beat the hornets in the regular season, higher ppg. and the lakers averaged more apg. pauls achievements were on a more individual level, and kobes were on a more team level... kobes got more ppg in the playoffs. did u forget his 49point 10 assist game? lakers havent even lost a game in the playoffs yet...
IT doesnt matter if he have a carrer season..then BRon should be the MVP.......but it doesnt work like that..

KObe deserve it haters ...and MVP is regular season award an last time i checked kobe's team finshed NUMBER so i dont think why he should not get it the MVp this season...
I say Chris Paul, because without him where do the Hornets go??? The Lakers would still be a decent team without Kobe, but the Hornets would be trash without CP3.
Look ppl Kobe is the MVP !!Deal with that!!You CP3 fans are just a bunch of whining b-i-a-t-c-h-s!!

I hope the Lakers and the Hornets meet in the West finals!!

Kobe and the Lakers will smash the Hornets!!
Paul deserved it.
LeBron James
Kobe deserved it.
Paul deserved it all the way
Kobe Bryant all the way
Kobe is much more consistent than Paul, Kobe MVP 2008!!!

If you had a vote for NBA MVP?

I'll start off by asking all of the ignorant/biased kids not to tell me SO and SO should win it because he's great

i'm not asking who should win the award

My question is:

How would you deside?

Would you vote for the most dominate player on the most dominate team (as one Yahoo writer recently put it)

Would you vote for the guy whos team wouldn't be playoff contenders without him?

Would you vote for the guy whos team wouldn't be championship contenders without him?

Or would you have your own way of doing it such as a combination of things or strictly statistics?

If you had a vote for NBA MVP?nba referee

I would decide by which player is most important for their team. In other words the 'most valuable player' for their team. I also think I would limit it to Playoff teams because you can't be all that valuable if your team falls short. I would also look at off-the-court actions and take that into effect. Leadership would be big for me too (just cause you score the most points doesn't make you a leader).

Also the MVP would have to be a complete player. Defense is VERY important.

If you had a vote for NBA MVP?basketball tickets ,nba teams

Chris Bosh. He's made his team go from getting laughed at to 3rd place in the east. I know everybody says its because there division sucks but since the start of January the Raptor's have the best record in the East. If you say Kobes MVP i will fight you. Report It

I think the best all around player should win.
I have to go with Kobe. W/O Kobe on the Lakers, would they even have a chance to make it into the playoffs? No. W/O his scoring ability, the lakers and the Celtics would be battling again, but instead of a championship, it would be for the first pick in the lottery. Dirk is a great player, but the mavs would still be a playoff team. Same with Steve Nash and the Suns. Both teams have great players who are all-stars. Kobe was the only player from the Lakers to make it to the all-star game. Kobe isn't selfish or a ball hog. He has to do this for his team to get into the playoffs. Thats why Kobe should be MVP.
MVP for me is the heart and soul of the team. A player that keeps their team in the game and takes charge when the team is losing. Statistics are important, and he needs to be an all-around player. My vote goes for Nash!!
Well its not easy to decide thats for sure. I mean, you have Nash who's stats amazingly got better from last year. And then theres Dirk who has changed his game and brought in towards the basket and the Mavss have the best record. And then you have Kobe with his dominating games. The easiest way out of this would be to combine all this, as in who is the team leader, but the team can operate without him. Who has a better record. What are the persons stats in contrast to other players on the team. It all the questions you asked and others combined that will determine whos the MVP. Except for the question "Would you vote for the guy whos team wouldn't be playoff contenders without him?"... because i think to be a good player, one of the requirements is that you can make an already good team better and play the game in the same flow as the team would without the "MVP".
I look at it this way: could you replace that player with another player of the same position, and have his team still be nearly as effective? For example: I think that you could replace Kobe with Tracy McGrady or LeBron, and the Lakers would be about where they are right now. I think that you could replace Dirk with Tim Duncan or Kevin Garnett, and the Mavs would be in good shape. I can't think of a replacement PG that would run the Suns nearly as well as Nash has. I think that the Suns would be a playoff team without Nash, but i don't feel that they would be serious contenders for the title. Thus, i feel that Nash is the most valuable player to his team, but i could be looking at this all wrong.
nash..

nowitzki is a special talent.. don't get it twisted.. but i've watched games this year where nash gets it done in the clutch.. while dirk would miss the game winner.. etc.. that's what separates a mvp

both teams would not be where they are without those two guys.. but my comment above is why i picked nash.. he just makes everyone around him better
One Word K.O.B.E.
I would look on how much of a team player he is. If he's a clutch player that can help in tough games. Is his team still dominate without him if so he is not that needed. will he come through in the finals and choke. Stay healthy almost al season. little if any suspensions and not alot of technicals called on them.
i would vote for Steve Nash because he is the best offenses player. He can mack unbelievable shot.

mattr
I just vote for the best :)
I would vote for the guy who team would be NOTHING without him...so many teams have a great starting 5 where they are all all-stars but few teams are great because of one or two players. This must be present for his team to win, %26amp; out of sync when they lose(the team is not successful or valuable without him), must have good offense %26amp; defensive skills.

It should be based on all the above stated %26amp; what you've stated in your question. All in all we know out of everyone in the league. There are only 3 players who are in the running for MVP and haev succeeded at everything we just discussed...can I name them? Dirk, Kobe, and Nash--not in any specific order.
I don't vote for MVP based on Team Record, MVP is a individual award and basing it on a "Team Record" is unfair. I'll use this as a Example do you think if Dallas put Dirk on a team like the Atlanta Hawks he would be considered a MVP....... Hell No wanna know why.......Because the entire team isn't good and just like the commercial says it takes Five. also look at all the MVP awards jordan was robbed of because his team probably didn't have the best record to me that's unfair because to me the MVP should be the Best Player in the League, not the team that has the best record if that was the case they would call it the MVT trophy (Most valuable team) trophy
My vote for MVP is Kobe Bryant:

How would you decide?-- I take in to consideration many things. such as performance in the clutch. ability to take over when it counts. There are many players in the league who are the heart and soul of their team so that isn't taken in to consideration. Another thing is being able to lead a team in to the playoffs that is full of lower level players. Smush parker, Kwame Brown, Sasha Vujacic, Luke Walton (improving) , aaron mckie, jordan farmar, etc..

Kobe Bryant may not be your choice or that of anyone else but for the past 3 years or so he has been the best player in the league. The most clutch and most exciting player to watch. When you get fans in NY, Boston, Atlanta, Las Vegas, all chanting MVP that says a lot!

Who will win the NBA mvp this year???

Me being a Boston fan (sox, pats, c's, ect). I love KG but I won't be so mad if CP3 or Lebron win it. I do think KG deserves it though. If you look at it my way. Who is the best team in the NBA? Who is the best player and leader of the best team? Well now I have to through pierce into it but you get my point. KG gets it.

Who will win the NBA mvp this year???www.nba

kevin garnett has done a lot with the celtics this year. he is the best player on the best team in the nba. he will win it.

Who will win the NBA mvp this year???nba players ,nba teams

kobe
Wrong!!! Kobe wins.
Hey Ryan,

it's kind of funny that you didn't even mention Kobe Bryant- i remember earlier this year Celtics fans chanting MVP in Boston for Kobe.

K.G. has been hurt too much this year...

Chris Paul is having a fantastic season and LeBron has kind of sputtered down the stretch and more than that if they give it to LeBron it's hard to justify why they didn't give it to Kobe several years ago.

Right now K.G. is #4 in the discussion and i just found it interesting that you didn't even mention Kobe as a candidate.

Nickster
KOBE. MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP MVP........
Kobe
plz stop asking this question

let us just wait until that day comes

this question has been asked like 20837502583 times now
the top 3 candidates are kobe, chris paul and kevin garnett. lebron's already out of the picture. they just don't have enough wins to warrant lebron an mvp award
Pierce is the leader of the celtics.

kthnx.
Its between Lebron and Kobe because of the similar numbers

I give the edge to Kobe because he has a great team in the much more difficult west
i want cp3 or lebron,kg wouldnt be bad either
uhh earl boykins
okay no lebron is sitting at like .55 percent record u can basically cross him off. they dont give mvp because u deserved it the years before god bye kobe. its between paul and kg i think kg deserves it. dirk got it last year soley because they had the best record in the nba are they not gonna finish up with almost identical records as the celtics come on this **** is a no brainer kg
Nope. Kobe Bryant deserves and has deserved MVP for the past 5 years. He has kept his team within the top three of the west through lots of big injuries, including his finger. I also love Chris Paul, but I think Kobe has been waiting long enough. Now with KG, I dont think he deserves it. Sure he's been playing well, but he has a great supporting cast.Kobe lost both Pau an Andrew and still held them up. KG wouldnt survive a minute without Ray or Pierce or Rondo. So.... Kobe gets it this year, Chris Paul next year.
KG OR CP3

2008 NBA MVP Award?

Whos going to get MVP this season?

My top candidates are:

Kobe, LeBron, Chris Paul, Kevin Garnett and Allen Iverson. Dwight Howard is a longshot, but hes still playing good basketball and is a big reason the Magic are having a good season.

2008 NBA MVP Award?nba all star

My rankings are : Kobe, Lebron, Chris Paul, KG, and Dwight Howard.

In the past Kobe has been dubbed as a selfish player and a ball hogg but this year he has rounded out his game to the next level. Making the players around him better and adding the assist and steals catagories to his game. No question Lebron is having an amazing year however, a true MVP should be able to increase the playing level of his team mates and he is having a hard time doing that. He needs to make the players around him better. Chris Paul has no doubt been the heart and soul of the Hornets but he is still yound and has a lot to learn about the game, him winning the MVP is something that is not out of the question but he still has some growing to do before he reaches his prime, he has a lot of potential though. KG simply because of his strive to win. And Dwight Howard is showing us glimses of a Shaq to be. His dominance on thew offensive end and his ability to prove to his own coach that his deffense is as strong will lead him to be one the most dominant players to play the game and yet just lke lebron he needs the ability to make the players around him better and like Chris Paul he has some growing to do.

2008 NBA MVP Award?tickets ,nba teams

What about steve nash hes the best Report It

It's either Kobe or LeBron.

Paul has been great but not as great. Also not much spotlight in NO.

KG has been solid but not MVP like. With 2 other stars in Pierce and Allen in lineup KG needs much bigger numbers.

AI has also been great but Carmelo is just as important to that team,

Dwight Howard will someday compete for MVP. Just not this year.

I vote:

1-Kobe

2-LeBron

3-Paul
I have either Kobe or KG.

Chris Paul now is included. He had a performance against the Suns awhile back in a double OT game that proved he's on that next level.

I know he doesn't get any consideration now, but in the future Chris Bosh may become dominant...
Steve Nash isn't on there, ur crazy.
Kobe: No contest
I think Narbeh makes some valid points. I think Kobe has a strong chance now that the Lakers are one of (if not) the best teams in the league. However, now that Lebron has Wally and Ben Wallace, the Cavs could take their game to the next level. No one competes with Lebron in stats -- he is the most efficient and dominant player when one looks at pts, rebs and asssits. I even created a site because I am such a Lebron fan and I am hoping this is his year to win the MVP. http://www.nbamvprace.com. Based on the voting, it appears Kobe has more fierce/loyal fans. Currently, Kobe is outpacing Lebron in votes 2-1. We'll see at the end of the season.
Kobe will win !Its his time and he by far the best player on the best team right now!!
kobe
Kobe Bryant for me.
I think if New Orleans makes the playoffs and goes past the first round - Chris Paul should get some consideration. He has really turned the team around and has given the team the respect that they deserve.
if this new cavs trade works out and they start winning more games and Lebron keeps getting triple-doubles.

then it will be Lebron.
KB24

Hands Down
It should definitely go to Kobe or Chris Paul. The two most unstoppable players at their positions.
CP3 if he plays like this through playoffs.

Kobe if Lakers go to Finals!
hmm CP3 OR L-Train :)
Chris Paul right now is the #1 guy in my book.

Will the Bulls win the championship and Kirk Hinrich win NBA Finals MVP?

If they do win the championship, I think Ben Gordon, Kirk Hinrich, or Ben Wallace win NBA Finals MVP.

Maybe Andres Nocioni might.

Will the Bulls win the championship and Kirk Hinrich win NBA Finals MVP?nba finals

Not this year but they are definitely solidifying their spot as championship contenders and will soon be in every talk about the NBA championship. Give them a couple years and then they will be in the mix once all the young guys get more NBA experience.

Will the Bulls win the championship and Kirk Hinrich win NBA Finals MVP?college football ,nba teams

No, they will not. You do not even hear the Bull players mentioning it; the higher I heard is the conference finals. They are experience and a scoring-inside threat (a center) away from the finals though.
ARE U SMOKING?
They will not win the NBA championship.

They don't have a post presence to open up perimeter shooting. Instead, their strategy is to screen and shoot, slash and shoot and hope for fast breaks. Notice the key work id perimeter shooting. They're banking on the fact that they have several above average perimeter players and hope that one gets really hot consistently. If not, Ben Gordon is there to clean up. But if he can't clean up then they're usually in trouble.

The other key is the Bulls defense. They have to keep play off caliber teams under 100 points minimum. I don't think they'll be able to do this under a Detroit or in the Finals: Dallas, San Antonio or a Phoenix team.

Post play is the achilles' heel for this team and will keep them from reaching the Finals. Another weakness might be depth at the 5 spot. It is actually easy to get Ben Wallace into foul trouble and if you do, the paint gets fairly wide open. PJ Brown is not as strong and quick as he used to be.
hahahaha...i didn't have laugh like that long time... NO WAAAAYYY...
Is this a trick question? You are jumping way ahead of yourself they are not even going to beat the heat the defending champs. They win one game in a best of seven all of a sudden everyone is yelling championship. You saw what happen last year to the Dallas Mavs. They went up two games and all of a sudden they were printing shirts for them being champs. C'mon now everyone thinks that shaq is too old. He is getting old but he can still hold his own. Wade still has not got into rhythm yet and tonight just might be the time he decides to turn it on. So stop yelling that they are going to the Finals when they have not even got pass the Heat which I know they are not.
no nj nets will with vince carter winning mvp

suck on that
NO WAY!Even if they get past the 1st and 2nd round they will definately lose to the Pistons in the 3rd round.
Boy that would be a dream come true for me, even though I'm not a huge fan of the Bulls, I am a huge fan of Hinrich. The most unselfish player in the east along with Kidd. Hinrich can defend anyone you throw at him, can hit the threes and is almost automatic at the charity stripe, and is an extremely unselfish pass first guard. Bottom line is I would love it to happen but let's wait untill we get to the conference finals or NBA Finals to make big predictions.
Nop Sorry, if any team is going to win the Finals it's the Dallas Mavericks or Detroit Pistons "And that's the bottom line... cuz Stone Cold said so''
I understand that you are a chicago fan and you wish they would win, but come on wake up they are NOT going to win this year or next year maybe in 2 years.
I'm a bulls fan but i don't think we don't quite have enough yet to win a championship. We might tho, if we play top notch defense and move the ball well. It just pains me when Ben Gordon tries to outdribble and get into the paint for a layup. That's how we lost to Cleveland...........

But unless Hinrich average about 20 pts and 10 assist a game and shut down opposing guards my MVP vote would go to Luol Deng. Deng is truly indespensable to this team b/c he is our most consistent scorer and pretty much our only option to scoring in the paint.
Not a chance. The Suns will win the championship and Nash will win Finals MVP.
sure will
They are not going that far. I would give it like two more years and then bring this question back up..they are just not ready yet but in time they will be one of the best
I think the Bulls can really pull it off if they play their style of game and if they play smart. As far as Kirk winning the honors.... doubt it!! My guess would be either Deng or Gordon.
ha! ha! ha! what?? the bulls? no chance, sunshine!! try the suns, dallas, or the spurs, fool! no one in east has a shot!!!!
don't think too far ahead they have pistons second round!
Hey your thinking like ME!! But lets change the names. How about championship caliber teams? Say the Suns, Mavs, Pistons, Spurs? Sorry but the bulls are not ready yet.
No, to both questions.
No, the Bulls will most likely go down to Detroit in 6. When was the last time any Kansas alumni did anything in the NBA Finals, Deng and Wallace are the true anchors for the Bulls, although they are talented, talent alone wont teach you how to win a good coach and experience usually does that for a team. More experience also leads to team cohesion which is vital for a Championship team.

Who should when the NBA MVP?

The last two seasons when Kobe lead the league scoring everyone was saying that we should look at the records. This year it's oh but Leborn leads the league in scoreing. Kobe and Leborn both started the year with the same teams but the Lakers had a better record before the trade for Gasol. Then the Cavs made a huge trade. Kobe plays D on the other teams best player, Scores, Passes, and plays in the West where every team from 1-6 could win a ring and if was in the east and was healthy might even win the conference. No give me a reason a good reason why Kobe hasn't earned the MVP this year. Cause the arguement that Leborn has no help is old and full of it cause if Larry Hughes isn't better then Smush Parker then ur crazy

Who should when the NBA MVP?soccer

i agree with you.

kobe deserves it b/c he's the best player in the league. he is the best scorer, a winner, a good defender, a good passer, he can shoot, dribble and post, he is a good rebounder and his team is one of the best in the league.

Who should when the NBA MVP?celtics ,nba teams

Lebron and CP3 can get it next year or some other.

this year should be Kobe.

he really desreves it..
CP3 all the way Kobe has much more weapons and lost to the Grizzlies, Lebron doesnt have a record as good as the Hornets, so CP3 all the way
kobe is one of the front runners and Lebron is in the mix because of his stats. The voting usually goes to a team with a good record. Lakers have a good record and may end up with best record in the west. Lebron has no help arguement is old, but it still applies. His team is sorry. Triple team Lebron and he kicks it out to an open Wally S for a brick.

Also the CAvs would probably be as good as the Heat if wasn't on the team.
KB
LeBron James.maybe even KG.

Kobe's waaay overrated.

=D
this should be kobe's 3rd consecutive mvp season, but the people in charge are morons

imo, an mvp should be someone who can take on the pressure down the stretch, and of course, still win

ex: last night's game vs portland

portland got w/ in 7, kobe comes in and scores 9 straight points for the lakers, including 2 3s, one being a 4-point-play

he can not only score but he can pass and rebound as well

ex: i forgot which game, but when lamar (?) went to the free throw line, he missed the 2nd in a verry close game and kobe got the offensive rebound and sealed the game for them with his clutch free throws

thats why hes the mvp in my book
chris paul... last year hornets were out of the playoffs picture early, this year they are on top of the western conference and to their first 50 win season in the last 10 yrs...

kobe doesnt deserve it because he hasnt done anything...... yeah hes good, but what has he done???? STATS DONT MAKE MVP!! they were garbage w/o pau gasol..... all kobe doing is ball hogging....

if lebron and the cavs were dominating the east then lebron would win.....
chris paul or kevin garnnet cause they helped change 2 teams around. the celtics were sucky last year but now their beast cause of kg. Chris paul and his assists and leadership have made the hornets one of the best teams this year.
Yes, thank you. No one understands the fact that the MVP award goies to not the best player in the NBA but the player with the most success in that leason. Lebron is better than kobe but kobe gets MVP because his team is better.
Kobe Bryant is the MVP
CP3 hands down, Kobe couldnt even lead his team past the Bobcats or Grizzlies.... AT HOME!!!
KOBE MVP!
I'd say Kobe. He has prevailed through injuries (both of his own and of teammates), the only injury Chris Paul had to deal with was a 6 game long injury of David West. Kobe was left without a legitimate big man for a good 18 games this season, Paul has had two big men (all-star David West and the leader in ORB and 3rd in TRB, Tyson Chandler) healthy for most of the year.

Lebron is completely out of it, because he doesn't make his team of elite status. All he has is his stats (Which, ironically, come easier by slacking off on defense by playing passing lanes, and hogging the ball on offense). If stats won the MVP, Kobe should have won it the last two years, and no way Dirk should have won it last year.

Kobe with just ONE all-star (Pau Gasol (all-star)): 16-4

Which is 70-12 season-wise, if he had Pau all year and played at that same intensity, it would've been the 2nd best record in NBA history.

Paul with TWO all-stars (David West and Peja): 47-20

What does your 2007 NBA MVP list look like?

Mine (just for grins) is:

1. Dirk (all around greatness on a nightly basis, VERY efficient with very good numbers, makes his teammates %26amp; W/L record look very good, has a great attitude that reflects w/ other players, does whatever his team needs him to do to win bc thats really all he cares about, main reason for that team being the favorite to win it all this year, and almost every NBA player questioned said he deserves it).

2. Lebron (makes a mediocre team into one of the best in the east and a contender for championhip)

3. Nash (just watch them play without him. haha. also makes his team into a contender)

4. Duncan (another one who makes his team into a contender)

-and now the talented players who do a lot for their team, but probably don't have a shot because they have been off/on or cant carry their team to a respectable record.

(which is why lebron is so impressive b/c that team isnt so good unless you factor him in)

5. K G

6. Arenas

7. Redd

8. Tmac

9. Kobe

10. Bosh

What does your 2007 NBA MVP list look like?nba game

Nash, Nowitzki, Lebron they r jus gettin all that publicity so its gonna b 1 of them

What does your 2007 NBA MVP list look like?lebron james ,nba teams

Dirk - Not picking him is just re-DIRK-ulous !!!

Nash - Good, but not the best

Duncan - just had a bad start, but he's got it now.

why the hell people say Kobe is rediculous. he might score 50 a game, but thats because he won't pass.

Last night 53 points, but only 2 reb's. 2 assists, and 0 steals.

MVP my ***.
ok first to get an MVP you have to have a decent team running in the playoffs, for example Redd and K.G will not get an MVP this year because their team isnt doing well. you have to improve your teammates skill level also and make their game higher. Thus, i like Dirk will be the MVP because he shows his leadership on the court by making his team be number 1 in the west and in the NBA. He is also a great shooter and has never won the MVP, to give it to Nash is a mistake because he has already won the MVP twice and he doesnt demonstrate any improvement in his team, their always in the same spot in the playoffs, so i pick

1. Dirk

2. Duncan

3. Nash

4. Billups

5. Lebron
1. Kobe Bryant

2. Dirk Nowitski

3. Steve Nash
1. Dirk

2. Nash

3. Lebron

side note- any1 who says kobe is plain retarded. he wasn't even THOUGHT of in the top 10 until he had 4 50 point games against horrible teams. they lost 7 in a row before that. so if a few high scoring games gets mvp, then Arenas/AI/Redd deserve it as much if not more than Kobe. But i'm not worried. I don't think the voters (coaches, gms, etc.) are as dumb as kobe fans

I wonder how many injuries there were last week by fans hurting themselves jumping off the "Dirk for MVP" bandwagon? He stumbles down the stretch of one important matchup and the next thing you know people are writing him letters and stuff. Anyway, Dirk bounced back nicely and led the Mavs to wins over the Celtics and Pistons.

If anyone was looking for the definition of MVP, check out the plays Nash made at the end of regulation and the overtime periods in the Suns' win against the Mavericks last week. what u think about that

Dirk nowitzki nba mvp?nba live 2006

I guess he deserved it.....but if the officials voted on the regular season AND the playoffs.......He wouldn't have recieved it. I still Have no love for Nowitzki...or the Mav's. Sorry.

Dirk nowitzki nba mvp?nba gear ,nba teams

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
he deserves it.....but, only for the regular season and NOTTTTT in the playoffs
jeeze im am tired of answering this question....

he doesnt deserve it... your MVP has to be reliable and consistent throughout... he cant chock during the playoffs...

Steve Nash deserves it.
i think he deserves it.. he got the mavs to an NBA record with 67 wins so ya he deserves it... although he did bad in the playoffs dirk deserves it
dirk was good this year but look at lebron and the cavs dirk has a good team around him and lebron only has so-so team mates and lebron is father than dirk in the playoffs
He deserved it. It's a regular season award.
He would deserve it but I think Nash will 3 peat...
Not pleased. Yeah he did a lot, but did he beat GS? Nope. They got owned. I would like to have seen Baron Davis get it. He got them INTO the playoffs AND knocked off a number one seed that was expected to win it all.
Well, if not Dirk, than who? Yes the Mavs ruined any chance he had of getting it without controversy due to the Warriors upset of them in Rd. 1, but c'mon, it wasn't all Dirk. Avery Johnson had no answers for Don Nelson's approach to defusing the Mavs and you were lucky if you could spot Dirk next to four guys who looked like they belonged in the playoffs at any given time during the entire series. Kobe? Yeah he's a one man show, but if you were going to knock Dirk, there's no way you could validate Kobe getting it. LeBron? Posssibly, but Dirk's overall year-round performance was much better than the King's. Steve Nash is the only other person i could conceive getting the award, and though I do think he deserved it as much as Dirk, it's not fair to tear apart Dirk for one fluke playoff upset. Blame the cast and coach, and please...PLEASE blame Marc Cuban, because I guarantee you no matter what, he will not help the Mavs this offseason, he'll only hurt them by hitting the panic button and going for players and personnel he thinks will better Dirk, as oppose to better the team.

Hey Who do You Think The MVP in NBA?

Well who do you think will be the MVP this Year?

Is it Kobe Brayant That Led The Lakers The First Team in West? Or Is it Kevin Garnett that they say the best player in NBA? Lebron James that Led the NBA in Points? Chris Paul that got the votes last year? Or is it your Bet?

Hey Who do You Think The MVP in NBA?nba odds

Kobe Bryant

He鈥檚 one of the premiere scorers in the league. Kobe鈥檚 talent has never been questioned, but his ability to carry a team without the help of Shaq has been in question since the big fella left. This is Kobe鈥檚 first legitimate chance to prove he鈥檚 the new leader of this team and that, with a little help, he can lead the Lakers back to the promise land. I would be happy with Kobe as the MVP this season. Kobe is on a much better team and that could ultimately be the deciding factor for MVP voters.

Hey Who do You Think The MVP in NBA?nba statistics ,nba teams

Kobe.

Lebron putting up 30-7-7 is not reason for an MVP. Jordan put up 33-8-8 and he STILL didn't get it, Kobe had one of the greatest statistical seasons in the history of the NBA a couple of years ago, he STILL didn't get it. They shouldn't change the rules for him.

Garnett is my number 2 for his defensive output, but still, KG never had an outside shooter and that is why he never got anywhere with the T-Wolves. Take away Allen and/or Pierce you have the T-Wolves all over again... You could say the same thing with Kobe and Gasol/Bynum, however the difference is, Kobe has had to play with both of them not suiting up for most of the year. He has a winning record whether it be without Gasol, Without Bynum or without both, so he has won no matter who is on the team.

Chris Paul? Look below.
It has got to be Kobe! I will give you the fact that Chris Paul is #1 in Assists and #1 Steals, yes he is a very good player and yes he brought the hornets up from NOTHING!! But Kobehas got to get it this year cause he improved on getting his team involved which is one of the BIGGEST reason he hasn't gotten it yet. and yes he has Gasol and Odom which are key players who he is now finding open and letting them get double doubles All season. And the first round will show nothing at all cause Lakers will roll over on the Nuggets but so will the Hornets. When Jason Kidd first came back to the Mavs in his first game playing the hornets as a Mav Paul shut him down it was a Creamation!

And whoever said Gasol could do it without Kobe is out of their freakin mind. Gasol just now won his FIRST EVER playoff game because of Kobe. If you took Kobe out of the Lakers it would be like he was back in memphis.

Also Kobe and the Lakers took the nuber 1 seed from the hornets cause in the last couple games the hornets lost it. Kobe has stayed on track not losing focus, Hell he has played all 82 games!!! and half of the season with mangled Pinky!!! and not only does he deserve it for his teamwork NOW but the way he scores and the way he plays defense and Also he is a true leader on the court and while sitting on the bench. And yes people are gonna say well he wanted to b traded cause of Bynum, well the fact is that he wasnt and he worked with it and still got the lakers where they are now. sorry for all the writing just had to get that out there
Chris Paul.

Before he got there, David West was a nobody and Tyson Chandler had the Kwame Brown "Bust" label in Chicago. As soon as he gets there, West becomes an all-star, Chandler makes the olympic team, Stojakovic revitalizes his career, and they get 2nd in the stacked west. Chris Paul is the single reason why the Hornets will still be playing in New Orleans next year.

Kobe, despite being an arrogant prick, is very good. However, Pau Gasol made the playoffs for 3 straight years as the only good player in Memphis. He's a proven winner WITHOUT Kobe. Kobe has a way way way better cast but overall the team only won 2 more games than NO. It's not close IMO. Don't forget also, this is the same Kobe who demanded that Bynum get traded for Kidd, then when that didn't happen, demanded that he get traded. Sound like an MVP to you?
Im saying Chris Paul

The first game against an annual playoff team... his first play off debut... showed what he can do and that he isnt just a regular season player... 30 plus points and 10 assists!? come on.....

scoring isnt everything in this game kobe can defend and score but hes no where near the mentality and poise of Chris Paul... He hasnt been in a play off game and he won his first the first round will determine who would be the MVP if lakers roll over denver it is obvious.... but if CP3 manage to knock out Dirk and his mavs... that would bring a lot of attention to him esp when he is guarded by one of the best guards in the league in jason kidd

about kobe? its not all about him... Phil Jackson is working with a guy who played like his prized player jordan... only this time he has more support he has more than a pippen and a harper and a kukoc to work with he has a legit big man and some young guns.... so its not all kobe.. lakers were expected to be in the play offs new orleans wasnt expected to be THIS good...

kobe wont be winning his MVP this year.... the media is too drawn to him and that sucks.... no body realizes the work paul and some other unsung heroes do... its all big dunks and big names.. sad how the game has become..... when you think of every team only one name will come up...

like..

Guy: Hey what do you think of the Dallas Mavericks

Guy2: Dirk is really good hes a good shooter

see my point
The MVP is going to be Kobe Bryant for many reasons. One reason is that he got the lakers to the 1 seed in the west after he wanted to be traded in the off season. No one expected the lakers to have the year that they had. And LA schedule wasent easy but they beat a lot of over 500 teams so the MVP should got to Kobe.
Kobe is the league's MVP. Garnett, Paul and James are in the conversation but Kobe is just a step ahead of them this year. Kobe is the total package. I'm not a Kobe fan and i don't even like him but he plays great defense and his offense is unmatched.
definitely kobe bryant will bag the trophy. he had an outstanding season and the lakers are on top of the standings. we all know he is the leader of the team and he matured enough to win the title. but still cp3 is looking in the race but kobe will still win it.
Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant deserves this MVP. "CP3" may have taken their team to the Playoffs but they're unexpereienced. Kobe Bryant is playing great basketball, team player, and not selfish anymore.
i'm sick of people asking who the mvp is, it is obviously going to be kobe. he is the best player in NBA hands down.
Chris Paul. Kobe and Kevin and Lebron get all the attention and its time he auctually deserved it. GO MAVS!
"Kobe" No doubt!

Obama 2008!

Ebony %26amp; Ivory Preident!
LeBron Numbers are better than all of them. Kobe's team is better but when they play Cleveland wins(5 straight).

LeBron James has my vote
Kobe!!!!!!!!!!

Should chris paul be the nba mvp?

No!

How can an MVP candidate lose 4 out of their last 6 games?

How can an MVP candidate's team is only #2 in the west and #4 overall?

How can an MVP candidate embarrassed by Deron Williams and Jason Kidd?

How can an MVP candidate score only 2 points on 1-10 10% FG?

How can an MVP candidate score only 4 points on 2-11 18% FG?

Kobe Bryant is averaging 28.4 points, 6.3 Rebounds, 5.4 Assists and 1.9 steals. 46% FG, 36% 3-point FG and 84% Free-Throw.

Kobe Bryant is playing with dislocated pinky finger.

Kobe Bryant is playing without injured teammates Pau Gasol, Bynum and Ariza in most games this season.

Pau Gasol only played 26 games with the Lakers.

Bynum only played 35 games this season because of injury.

Kobe played all 82 games this season.

Paul has David West who is averaging 21 points and 9 rebounds per game, he has Chandler who

is averaging 12 rebounds (#3 in the NBA) and Peja Stojakovic who is averaging 17 points, 5 rebounds and 46% 3-point FG.

Guess what? David West missed 13 games and Peja Stojakovic missed 52 games last season. They didn't even make the playoff last year. Kobe had the same scenario this year but the Lakers are #1 in the west!

06-07 Hornets record: 39-43

Combined games missed by West, Chandler, Peja: 108

07-08 Hornets record: 56-25

Combined games missed by West, Chandler, Peja: 14

That's why. Paul needs the team around him. Without them, they fall apart.

Kobe and the Lakers are #1 in the west with 57-25. The Hornets are healthy all year.

Kobe is the MVP!

Should chris paul be the nba mvp?nba power rankings

Chris Paul should be the MVP of the NBA and he is going to be. Chris Paul is more explosive and better than kobe. Another reason why Chris Paul is getting MVP is because Chris Paul got the Hornets probably the worst team in the league to the 2nd seed in the West. And finally Chris Paul has a way better attitude then Kobe. Chris Paul doesnt complain that he wants to get traded because his team isnt good enough. Chris paul's team dint make the playoffs last season and kobe did so there is nothing for him to complain and yap about. Chris Paul cp3 for MVP. cp3 is the best and most valuable player in the nba

Should chris paul be the nba mvp?nba ballers ,nba teams

of course he should! out of all the MVP candidates this year, he's the one who's performing consistently in an MVP level. his assist numbers went up during the second half of the season, and he' been #1 in steals all throughout the year. he's the main reason why his team is on top of the standings. his leadership has certainly made everyone on his team better. he knows when to pass, and when to take over games. he's been clutch all year long. he's young but his leadership skills is several notch higher compared to kobe's. he should win it. kobe fans should accept it. if you don't believe me, watch game1%26amp;2 of their series against the mavs. that'll be enough to convince y'all of his value to the hornets' franchise!

cp3 is the real MVP!
Yes Chris Paul should win MVP. WHY? Because of stats. Kbe averages 28 a game that is outstanding. Chris Paul averages 21 and 11 assists double double by the way which the only person to have more of those is that beast in Orlando. Any way that is creating at least 43 points a game. Also one of the only players ever to lead in assists and steals. There is no question Kobe is great but not mvp.
think of the MVP as this way... if the team takes out the player, will the team succeed for the entire season?

If the Lakers take out Kobe, will they succeed? They have Odom, AND Gasol. Yes Gasol has not been with the lakers all season, but before he was there, they had bynum. so i believe the team would still survive without kobe.

If the Hornets take out CP3, will they succeed? No. Yes they have West, Yes they have Chandler, but with out CP3 handing them the ball for the assist or drawing the defense to cover him, they would not have been THAT open to score or do anything. If the Hornets did not have CP3, they probably wont even be in the playoffs in the WEST.

I believe CP3 IS the MVP, and NOT kobe. even though im from LA, and dislike the hornets, i believe CP3 wins it over Kobe.
why don't admitted that kobe bryant is nba mvp this season

don't worry man!!

cp3 has many years to come..

but this is kobe time..yeah..

can't believe kobe couldn't get the nba mvp in his entire

career..

this is the time for KOBE!!!!

he tired for waiting..
This argument is already over and Kobe is going to win it. All that's left is the announcement and Kobe's nice little victory speech.
I don't think so. Kobe deserves it this year because he has never won the MVP award yet in his career. Look at what Kobe has done during his career. Besides Paul still has a lot of time during his career.
CHris Paul is good, but i think this year's MVP award should go to Kobe, Come on! people, Kobe been is the Nba for 10 years and He ever even won once before!
whatever you say . . KOBE is the MVP . .

How do you vote for nba mvp?

TEXT

How do you vote for nba mvp?nba graphics

It's not us who vote for it, it's a group of judges. The rule was changed 6 years ago, when Tim Duncan won. Not many people thought he was deserving, but everybody in San Antonio voted for him. This wasn't fair to everyone else, so the rule has been changed. I'm not sure who the judges are but they have been great so far.

How do you vote for nba mvp?nba live 2007 ,nba teams

the media votes on who gets the MVP award

the general public has no say
the media does it, unless the NBA gives you a ballot you have no say
i think online

Who will be this years NBA MVP? 6th Man?

REMEMBER: THE MVP AWARD STANDS FOR "MOST VALUABLE PLAYER... NOT NECESSARILLY THE BEST PLAYER"

Personally... I think that Steve Nash should be the MVP and Leandro Barbosa should win the 6th-man-of-the-year award. HOWVER, Jerry Stackhouse also deserve the 6th Man award. But, I would be happy either way.

I DON'T think that Dirk Nowitski should be this years MVP for the simple fact that his team can do well enough without him... STACK, HOWARD, TERRY, HARRIS, DAMPIER... There's your starters!

But Steve Nash is the core of the Phoenix Suns team. He doesn't just call plays... He RUNS the Offense (and since they can't play D, they are totally screwed w/o him.)

Ginobli would be a great choice for 6th Man IF HE WAS A 6th MAN! He gets more minutes than many starters.

(Disclaimer) I know. Both my picks play for the Suns... and, yes, I like the Suns... but that is NOT the reason I picked these choices!

Who will be this years NBA MVP? 6th Man?college football

MVP will definately be Nash. He sets everything up for his team. 6th Man will be Leandro. He comes off the bench with lots of energy and contributes to his team. If he does not get a fast break, then it is a very rare occasion.

These 2 also deserve it because they are very humble. You don't see record numbers from them, but Nash always gets a double- double and they do not care if they get these awards, they just want to contribute to their team and they deserve a Championship!

Who will be this years NBA MVP? 6th Man?nba.com ,nba teams

MVP-Dirk Nowitzki

6th Man-Either Leandro Barbosa, David Lee, or Manu Ginobili
Nash for MVP.

Ginobili for 6th man.

Roy for Rookie of the year.

Camby for Defensive player.

Barbosa for Most Improved.

Sloan for Coach.
mvp is steve nash, 6th man is a battle between barabosa and ginobli
Kobe for MVP.

Bosjan Nachbar for 6th man.

Roy for Rookie of the year.

Marion for Defensive player.

Barbosa for Most Improved.

Mitchell for Coach.
MVP-- Should definatly be Nash! Since the Suns are really nothing without him! He carries them from game to game doing AWESOME ofensive playing. While Dallas can stand to be without Dirk on the team.

6th Man-- Should be Barbosa!
totally agree with you, Dirk is awesome but the suns are where they are today mostly because of nash, he makes everyone better, and Barboza is having a carreer year, hes possibly the fastest player in the league right now and hes a great shooter.

Roy for rookie of the year, wich i think would have been a though one if Bargnani had stayed healthy.

Mitchell for coach of the year, what he and colangelo have done with the Raptors is outstanding.

Camby for defensive player of the year, and Monta Ellis for Most Improved player.
Also remember, it is the LEAGUE MVP, not just one team. That being said, it comes down to the best players on the two best teams. Nash or Nowitzki.

6th man-Porbably Ben Gorden, but I vote for Jerry Stackhouse.

Guess who my favorite team is.
I think Dirk Nowitzki will win MVP, I would like to see Steve Nash win. As far as 6th man? Maybe Jerry Stackhouse. Not Manu Ginobli cause he comes in the game with like 9 minutes left in the 1st quarter
mvp-nash 6th man-barbosa
If your question is who will win MVP, the answer is going to be Dirk. Further, I am don't think a lineup of Stackhouse, Howard, Terry, Harris and Dampier does any better the Phoenix's lineup without Nash. Most teams tend to be pretty bad without their best player.

As for the sixth man, I think it is very likely to be Ginobili. There is no limit on the number of minutes played, and historically, players like Kevin McHale have won the award. Barbosa's best chance is if voters don't realize Ginobili is eligible.
MVP - Steve Nash

Reason - Phoenix Suns are Steve Nash. Without him, no under the baskets for Shawn Marion, a lot less alley-oops and less fast breaks. So pretty much not the Sun's bball that we all know and love. They cant win without him, they become this sluggish mediocre team when he's not in the game. Also he is their leader, he keeps them grounded. Notice when they were on their crazy 18 game win streak, Steve was never satisfied. "Streaks dont win champsionships". Im sure he tells that to his team everyday. He takes the fall when they lose, he spreads the credit when they win. But we all know whos running the greatest bball show on the court, Steve Nash.

6th Man - Leandro Barbosa

Reason - Im sick of all this b/s about Ben Gordon and Manu. They arent bench players! Ben Gordon started almost every game, and he only came off the bench for that strech of 3 weeks because Scott Skiles wanted to shake things up. And Manu plays starter's minutes every game. So it comes down to Stackhouse and Barbosa. Who has more impact? Barbosa without a doubt, he comes off the bench with energy, and is a fantastic scorer. Barbosa is more of a key role in the Suns success that Stackhouse is. Barbosa brings it night after night, where as in Dallas, one night Stack will go for 30 and the other Austin Croshere will drop that. I'm not saying Austin Croshere is anything close to Stack, but the mav's are very very deep. They got alot of players to come off the bench and contribute for them. Thats why they're more successfull the Phoenix. Sun's rotation is very short, but they got one man on there that will make up for it. Barbosa.
Although personally I believe that Kobe deserves MVP, Dirk, I think, will get the reward( even though Nash deserves it more than him) 6th man of the year definately goes to Leandro Barbosa. He has been stepping up to the plate and taking care of business for the Suns. In a few years he could probably be an All-Star. Barbosa has the skills to do whatever he needs to do to contribute to the Suns offense and defense.
I 'll have to go with Dirk for MVP.

Your starters are stack, howard, terry, harris, and damp??

uhh, who is gonna play the power forward?stack?ya, not gonna work.

Barbosa for 6th man though.
MVP - Steve Nash

6th Man - Leandro Barbosa

Ginobli is a starter in bench player clothing.
mvp-nash

6th man-should have been ben gordan, but barbosa gets it for me

Who is going to win nba mvp this year?

lobe but chris paul deserves it

Who is going to win nba mvp this year?nba gear

before i say anything the guy that said kwame brown would win is the stupidest person to watch an nba game and its kobe they announced it a couple days ago they will give him the award before game 2 of the lakers and jazz on tuesday

Who is going to win nba mvp this year?nba finals 2007 ,nba teams

kobe bryant already won.....the comissioner will go to l.a to present it to kobe
I want LeBron to get it but dont see that happening...

Kobe is strong though
Kobe already won it.
seriously?, your either a hater still in denial or a really new NBA fan.
kobe
kobe
me
Kobe he was the most consistant player throughout the season and he actually made his team mates better and carried the lakers to the top spot in the wild wild west. the other competion like KG and CP3 were dominant for a season KG the first and CP3 the second but KB24 was hot through out so i take my hat off to him
Kobe Bryant.
Kobe Bryant!!

WOOOOOT!!!

LETS GO KOBE AND LAKERSSS...

NBA MVP, kobe bryant or Steve Nash!?!?

Who will take it, nash or kobe, and bring up anyone else like lebron, dirk, or billups, thse are the mian 2 and american knows it. which one will take it. For me Kobe, cause of 81 points, and a playoff spot in a tough western conference. If u fags say 7th means ****, the lakers would be 5th in the east cause the east sux.

NBA MVP, kobe bryant or Steve Nash!?!?nba playoff bracket

KOBE BRYANT BY A REALLY BIG MARGIN

NBA MVP, kobe bryant or Steve Nash!?!?nba trade rumors ,nba teams

KOBE BRYANT all tha way cuz hiz betta Report It

Nash. America loves him. He gets everything. He even got a triple-double last night against the Trail Blazers. Kobe gets points, but he shoots way too much. If he let other players shoot, they might actually win. But they are going to lose to the Suns in the playoffs.
nash. he's the better overall point guard. kobe can get the points but nash will get everything else.
brother says NASH because he won the MVP of the season. but i say KOBE because i think lakers so rock. but also because he has a good record for basketball
Kobe Bryant
Nash, fo sho. Kobe just irritates the hell out of me.
Lebron James...DUH
Nash
Billups definetly, he was to over looked. Hes on one of the best team in the league that was on pace to win close to 63 games this season because of him.
neither Gibert Arenas will win hands down
Lebron Are u fo real. He has no d
I think you have to look at the MVP race as if you were a coach and had to choose between the two. With Kobe on your team, you have a team with the best player today. With Nash on your team, you have a guy who makes all of his teammates into good players.

So as a coach, do you want a team with one excellent player, or a team with five good players? The numbers don't lie, so I go with Nash for Most Valuable Player.

If garnett doesnt win MVP the NBA is fixed?

mark put it in perfect words"

basiclly made the worst team in the nba last year into the top team in the nba and he's also brought back the celtcs pride, intensity and the fans. He's also improved the young talent on the team on and off the court he's been a mentor and a leader. And his numbers are a little down but still KG type numbers. He's also had to get along with two other superstars and sacrafice some of his numbers. Thats a true MVP If he doesnt win then the NBA is fixed and there should be a somesort of an investigation.

If garnett doesnt win MVP the NBA is fixed?nba power rankings

If garnett doesnt win MVP the NBA is fixed?nba ballers ,nba teams

yer crazy your makin him seem like a god hes not that good and minnesta sucked and kg dident make a diffrence they still suked and they could have got any PF that has been an all star boozer, duncan, gasol, nowitski, west and many others and they would have been doin the same wow yer just real dumb
I totally agree with you, and think that he should win, but Kobe and LeBron will make this a tough race.
your questions dont make ******* sense. you go back and forth. in one question you say they should just give it to kobe, then now if garnett doesnt win it, the nba is fixed, later on are you going to say lebron deserves it? make up your ******* mind and stop jumping on every player's bandwagon. how old are you? 10?
the nba is not fixed it is the fans who really decide though mvp will probaly be will be a point guard
Kobe is more valuable to the Lakers then Garnett is w/ Boston. Plus the Lakers play in the West. This is Kobes year it has to be.
WOW. If Garnett DOES get mvp the nba is fixed. Garnett is not the top performer on that team. Paul Pierce is the monster on that team. Garnetts good, but there are other better candidates for mvp.

Kobe

Lebron
No.

I'm not saying that KG should win the MVP. He has alot more help then other guys do. Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are both former/current all-stars, all nba-team guys. KG has a great shot at winning it, but if you look at other guys, Lebron has a little help in Wallace and with Gooden and Ilgalskuas gone and out its even less help. Chris Paul is a very under rated guy who has a little help in NO. Kobe has close to the same amount of help as KG does with Gasol Odom, and when he comes back Bynum.

It will be interesting to see who eventually comes away with it, pending all competitors stay healthy.

I jsut pray a Spur does not win it
u state in your question the reason he isnt the MVP. HE HAS TWO OTHER SUPERSTARS and that is why they are good. kobe is owed an MVP and this is his year. chris paul deserves it tho.
lol no way should kg be mvp. sure, if the celtics were without paul pierce and ray allen and had this record, then yeah. but since the celtics only win consistently when they have they big three healthy and when they're playing the ridiculously weak east, no kg should not be mvp.
or it could have something to do with him running besides paul pierce and ray allen... those guys arent necissarly chumps by any means, and he is having a statistically worse year than any of his other years... the cavs were 0-5 without lebron, the celtics were 7-2 without garnett... someone please give Lebron the props he is deserved...
kobe bryant is the mvp then lebron then chris paul and then u can say garnett , he does have ray allen and paul peirce who is the best player on the team
and they were 7-2 with out him and the bos look what they look not only because of KG .paul , ray, posey ,house ...... !
Kobe and Chris Paul is also a candiadate
If KG doesn't win it this year, of course it's fixed. Who else is gonna get it. Lebron?
David West:

19 points 9 reb.

Plays in the tougher conference

Plazs on the better team (in mz opinion)

Doesn't have the help Garnett has

Kevin Garnett:

18 points 9 reb

Missed 5 games

Averaging the least amount of points and rebounds in 10 zears.

Raz Allen and Paul Pierce have better numbers and have plazed in more games. Thez are just as valuable as Garnett

So whz is Garnett more valuable than West
god...if kobe doesnt win its rigged if garnet doesnt win its fixed

stop witht the questions we all know baron deserves it

they are the only players in nba history to accomplish that feat !

NBA MVP for 2007?

Did they already announce who the MVP for this year is?

I really hope its Nash I love him!!!

Also if they did announce it who is it????

Please help I'm dying to know!!!!

NBA MVP for 2007?nba stats

It was Kobe Bryant!

NBA MVP for 2007?nba score ,nba teams

take it easy, it's too early to announce the MVP for this year. all they can do is make stupid predictions like KG being on top of the RACE TO MVP, he's getting lot of help. nash is doing good this year but not like the way when he won consecutive MVP award. kobe should win it this year.
It will be kobe bryant. for the 07-08 season
They didn't even announce the all-star team yet, so calm down. They will announce the winner of the MVP at the end of the season.
yeah, they've announced it some 7 months ago. it was dirk. his mavs then got bumped out of the first round by the warriors.
No they haven't, I think they announce the mvp at the end of the basketball season. I think the mvp should be Kobe byrnat....Go Lakers
Yes, they announced it, it was Dirk Nowitzki, many people disagree, but I dont, He has a good all around game. If he needs to dish it to the rim he will, plus his outside shot is very reliable. He may not be a very good defender but if you notice he'll block when his team needs it, his most amazing skill is his Offensive Awareness. Not to mention Nowitzki's clutch. Nash is a really good player, but he's aging, and he might slow down.
06-07 season's MVP was Dirk Nowitziki. and for the 07-08 season, has just started and Garnett is ahead of everybody as for now, but I think Dwight will win it eventually.
According to the guy race to mvp its garnett not kobe and steve is not even in top 10
Steve nash. He's playing great of late and he both scores and dishes. He's not a shelfish player. Nash will win it.
It should be Kevin Garnett and Celtics has a shoot at Champ!!
Either Nash, D wade(cuz hes crazy), dwight howard, kevin garnett, or Curry ( sike) or kobe bryant since hes so much of a ball hog
Not this season yet.

But I think Brandon Roy should win it :).
Brandon Roy!
For the 2006 - 2007 season it was Dirk Nowitzki

For this year they haven't announced it yet it's still too early.

Right now though I think it's Kevin Garnett
kobe bryant is an idiot. nash is decent, but right now, brandon roy should get it. leading the 13 win blazers to victory. hes got it

His son might (if he has one), but Kwame never will.
stop asking stupid questions!
hahahahaha once again hella funny...

whats up with these questions?

Has there ever been an NBA MVP who didn't make the All-Star Team?

I don't know the answer to your first question

but the second one...The Detroit Pistons "won" in 2004 without any "all stars"

Has there ever been an NBA MVP who didn't make the All-Star Team?2006 nba draft

That is highly unlikely! Maybe the regular season MVP missed the game because of injury.

Karl Malone was MVP in the shortened 1999 season and did not make the All-Star Team - because there was no All-Star game that year!

Has there ever been an NBA MVP who didn't make the All-Star Team?nba schedule ,nba teams

Great question... I don't know the answer but I do know that Robin Yount was the MVP in 1989 but didn't make the All-Star team that year.
tony parker with the spurs didnt make the all star team that year
Yes Earl Livingston in 1964
Earl Livingston in 1964 , Robin Yount was the MVP in 1989 but didnt make the all-star team, and karl malone was mvp but didnt make the all-star team that season because there was none

In 1969 the Celtics won the NBA Championship but Jerry West (a Laker) won NBA Finals MVP. How is that?fan gear

Glad to see that you're broadening your horizons "jd".

Jerry West played an outstanding series, scoring 42 points, grabbing 13 boards, and dishing 12 assists in a game 7 loss, all while playing on a badly injured leg.

He almost singlehandedly brought them back from what looked like a sure Celtic blowout in the 4th quarter.

He also scored 53 points in game 1, and 41 points in game 2.

The Celtics, as usual won and lost as a team. If there was ONE PLAYER that stood out in that classic series, it was West.

Great question

I feel a Jerry West vs. MJ question coming soon....lol

They were both great players in their own right. Let's just leave it at that.

In 1969 the Celtics won the NBA Championship but Jerry West (a Laker) won NBA Finals MVP. How is that?nba draft ,nba teams

Let's keep this simple. Jerry West was named Finals MVP in 1969 despite losing the series because West was the best player during that 7-game series. Even the Celtics players thought so, that Havlicek went to the Lakers locker room after the series was over to tell West, "I love you". Russell also went to the Lakers locker room and held West's hand silently.

The Lakers that year were far more superior than the Celtics, but the Celtics won NOT because of one or 2 players, but because they played as a TEAM. Sam Jones was retiring, Russell was also retiring though he didn't announce it yet. All of the Celtics were old, save for Havlicek and Don Nelson, and if you examine their roster, they had no business being in the Finals, much less win over a Lakers team that featured Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West and Elgin Baylor, arguably the greatest at their respective positions up to that time.
Because that was the 1st year the MVP in the NBA, and they didnt know what how to do it. And he was the Most Valuable player in the finals
It's absolutely true that the media (who votes for finals MVP) did not like Russell at all.

Jerry West had an outstanding Finals that year... he scored 53 points in game 1 (won by the Lakers 120-118), and followed that up with 41 points in game 2, as the Lakers took a 2-0 lead in the series. (John Havlicek had scored 39 and 43 points in the first two games).

With the Lakers up 3 games to 2, West scored 26 of the Lakers' 90 points in a 99-90 loss to Boston in game 6 at Boston Garden. West played that game with a badly injured hamstring.

West then followed THAT up with a triple double in game 7, with 42 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. Although the Celtics won the game 108-106, West was named Finals MVP....

West received a car for his MVP performance. Unfortunately for him, the car was GREEN.

The media loved Jerry West even more than they hated Bill Russell. And they hated Russell a lot...

In that 7th game, John Havlicek (the Celtics' leading scorer for the series) scored 26 and pulled down 16 rebounds.

Russell himself had 21 rebounds in his final game.

The MVP of that finals could have gone to Russell or Havlicek just as easily, but not only did the media love Jerry West as much as they hated Bill Russell, there was also a lot of sympathy for West, as 1969 marked the sixth time he had lost a final to Boston, and the third time he's lost in seven games to the Celtics (1962, 1966).

West was rewarded because, statistically, he was the best player of the finals.

As far as West "standing up" to Russell in the Finals, Russell was an old 35 that year... not only was he a 48 min/game player, he was also the coach, which took a little something away from his play on the court... Russell, as a young man, played the greatest game 7 ever played, with 30 points and 40 rebounds vs. the Lakers in 1962.

Russell was 10-0 in game 7's. Jordan is not close to him as a clutch player OR as a winner.

This was a good question, jd
becuase he was teh best player in teh series teh celtics were the better team. it like having a cavs spurs final. lebron is the best player and probably will win teh mvp but the spurs will win the championship
There is nothing in sports that says that only championship teams produce MVPs. The NFL picks a MVP for the season and that guy might not even make it to the Super Bowl. It is all about individual talent and effort when it comes to MVP status. I would much rather be an MVP for the whole season than to be picked MVP because of one game performance.

Jerry West was just that good and the voters just could not get around it.
Because Jerry West almost single-handedly beat the Celtics (a proof that no man can do it all alone).

I think that they gave him that prize as a consolation because as hoopfan said he played with an injured leg and almost scored 50.

At least you're getting more broader and deliberate on subjects now... =) hehe
jerry west was ballin thats why
It's called Racism!..you dumb bastard!...The people who voted did'nt want Russell to win..because he was black!

AROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
BECAUSE HE COULD
well thats like saying why did Ryan Howard get baseball MVP when the Phillies didnt make the playoffs. In today's sports world you dont have to be on the best team to be the most valuable...you just have to have the ability to change a game
Maybe they got bored of giving Cetic players the finals MVP, year after year. Remember, that's when the Celtics won 11 Titles in 13 years. Now we just suck.
Thats like everyone asking why Dirk was regular season MVP, and Dallas gets bumped in the 1st round this year. MVP should be changed to MVC(Most Valuable Champion)
Maybe it's because Jerry West help the Celtics to win... kind of like Kobe helped the Pistons to win. OK... it's a lie! Jerry West is way too awe inspiring even though the Lakers lost! So Jerry West won. Kobe, however, won the series for the Pistons...
Because he averaged 37.9 ppg and he had 42 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists in game 7.
